1. I'm a bird or an island or a melon or a wood!!!
2. The birds are named after an Island that derives its name from a Latin word meaning of "Island of Dogs," due to its "vast multitudes of dogs of very large size" - I love wikipedia!

Now off to play with the color!!!
To create a monochromatic scheme, I combined it with Snow and Paper Bag
